Mission Statement
To reflect Native American Indian values in meeting the spiritual, social, nutritional and physical needs of all who participate, especially those of greatest social and economic need. The Indian Council of the Elderly (ICE) strives to assist each Elder with the capacity to live independently.
Who We Are…
The Indian Council of the Elderly, a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization, that provides a center which serves lunch to Milwaukee County urban Elders three days a week (Monday, Thursday, and Friday) and offers educational, social and recreational activities such as bingo, monthly health checks, fitness activities, crafts and presentations from community resources and much more.
Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge in Milwaukee that we are on traditional Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk and Menominee homeland along the southwest shores of Michigami, North America’s largest system of freshwater lakes, where the Milwaukee, Menominee and Kinnickinnic rivers meet and the people of Wisconsin’s sovereign Anishinaabe, Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Oneida and Mohican nations remain present. We also acknowledge those who represent the Tribal Nations of what is now Wisconsin:
Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Forest County Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk Nation, Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, Oneida Nation, Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Sokaogon Chippewa Community – Mole Lake Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Saint Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin, Stockbridge-Munsee Community Band of Mohican Indians, Brothertown Indian Nation and all of the Tribal Nations outside of Wisconsin’s borders, whose tribal members and descendants are represented by our members, staff and community.
